Start historical-minded exploration of Kigali city with visits to landmarks from colonial, post-independence, genocide and post-genocide times i.e. Kigali Genocide memorial site where over 259,000 genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves, Belgian camp where they killed the 10 Belgian UN soldiers who were protecting the moderate prime minister before the start of genocide etc.
Transfer to Bugesera in the afternoon to visit the reconciliation village where the survivors of genocide live together in harmony with the perpetrators that killed their own families. Hear testimonies from both sides and engage in different traditional activities such as; agricultural activities, farming, traditional dancing and cooking, basket weaving, etc. Dinner & overnight at Mille Colines Hotel
Transfer to Akagera National Park, arrival and briefing at the reception later start a short game drive in the park in search for the big 5 that include lions, Rhinos, Leopards, Elephants and buffaloes plus the 12 species of antelopes including the biggest antelopes such as the eland cape and roan antelopes, some of the 525-bird species including 4 rare birds of Akagera, reptiles, amphibians, plants, magnificent landscapes, historical sites; a place with the highest concentration of birds per square kilometer than any other national park of Africa and hundreds of hippos, to mention but a few.
Lunch at the lodge and check-in, in the afternoon, drive to Lake Ihema for a thrilling boat cruise to see schools of hippos, giant Nile crocodiles, water birds, buffaloes, etc. Overnight: - AKAGERA GAME LODGE.
Early breakfast at lodge followed by a full game drive from south and exit in the north in search for the unseen game on the previous game drive. You will have packed lunch box and soft drinks for the day.
Transfer to back to Kigali. Dinner & overnight at Mille Colines Hotel.
Early morning drive to Nyungwe, En-route do a short historical-minded exploration of Nyanza – visit the King’s palace and traditional Rwanda home; the National Museum, introduction to Rwanda’s kingdoms, discovery of colonial architecture. Proceed to Nyungwe Forest for a Walk on an artificial bridge raised 70m above the ground to view the thick Nyungwe Canopy from the above. Overnight: - Nyungwe Top View Hotel
Early breakfast at 4:30am then drive to the edge of the forest where chimpanzee trekking starts.
In the afternoon transfer to Kibuye, the Rwanda’s most attractive of lake ports, nestled in a series of interwoven and undulating hills and offering visitors spectacular views of the lake, its islands and the stunning surrounding countryside. It is considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with its lush green hills and peaceful breeze. Overnight at Moriah hill resort
Breakfast at the shores of Lake Kivu, enjoy the boat ride to Napoleon and Peace Islands. The islands introduce you to many wonders of Rwanda; the beautiful scenery and breathtaking landscapes; birds and fruit bats etc. An exclusive nature walk on both islands will be very rewarding for any visitor.
Transfer to Volcanoes. Overnight at Le Bambou Gorilla lodge
Breakfast at the hotel later drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, enroute you will stop at the beautiful twin Lakes – Burera and Ruhondo. On arrival check in at the hotel.
Lunch and transfer to the Batwa community (Pygmies) of Bwindi to experience their ways of living through traditional dances, singing, cultural norms, hearing lessons and the way as gatherers who used to live in the forests of Bwindi before it was declared a National Park. Overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Camp
After breakfast we transfer to the park. complete our park formalities later embark on a once in a life time experience of tracking mountain gorillas.
Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long lost cousin. This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on earth!!! You get so close to these awesome giant primates. You stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience.
After lunch at the Lodge, transfer back to Kigali and to Airport. END OF SERVICE!
