Overview
Masai Mara, also known as the Maasai Mara National Reserve, is a wildlife reserve located in southwestern Kenya. It is named after the Maasai people, a semi-nomadic tribe who have lived in the area for centuries.
The reserve is famous for its incredible wildlife, including the “Big Five” animals (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros), as well as many other species such as wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, and hippopotamus. One of the most remarkable wildlife spectacles is the annual wildebeest migration, during which over a million wildebeest, accompanied by thousands of zebras and other grazers, move from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park to the Masai Mara in search of fresh grass.
